My name is Katerine Tsoulelis. I was born in Brussels, so I am Belgian of Greek origin. My parents are Greek; my father is from Lesbos, and my mother is from Rhodes. I have a sister who still lives in Belgium. I am a French speaker. I have been living in Lesbos for 22 years now. Ten years ago, I opened a small organic and vegan shop. An introduction to FAROS ESTATE & SIGRI OLIVE MILL 30 years ago, the 200-hectare Faros Estate was a deserted peninsula of land on Sigri, Lesvos island, empty of flora and fauna. Today, it’s home to one of the youngest olive groves in the world ! A thriving ecosystem for wildlife alongside our plantation of 50.000 olive trees of 12 local, Greek and international varieties & 20.000 other trees ! From our Certified Organic Plantation, we cultivate olives using all-natural and only local seaweed fertilizer. It is not only organic, but comes from a natural source which can be harvested without damaging the environment. With animals and birds flocking back to the estate, we erase the carbon footprint created by 2.000 people. We take care of our every single tree and on the very same day of harvest, the olive fruits continue the way to our high-tech, state-of-the-art Olive Mill & Bottling Facilities, also built in Faros Estate and set according to the most up-to-date European guidelines, practices and strict internal procedures & policies. We hold BRCGS, IFS, ISO22005 certificates, we have been featured by EU CAP network as an inspiration idea for sustainability and our case has been also presented in YALE university School of Public Health. Faros Estate is thus a Big Win in Oleotourism. We can provide an unforgettable Oleotourism Experience that is not just a tour. Instead, it is a deep dive into the olive oil world at the SIGRI OLIVE MILL & farm, where we host experts and fans from around the globe. 2024 is a proud start for our sustainable biodiverse farm to be featured as a Selected Farm in the esteemed Flos Olei 2024 guide. This is a resounding affirmation of our position among the world’s finest. Furthermore, we are immensely honored to receive the highest recognition for all extra virgin olive oil samples sent to the most prestigious Olive competitions in New York, Japan, Berlin. Building on last year’s success, this year’s triumph further cements our position as leaders in the global olive oil industry. This is just the beginning of our journey. We are a small family business that decided to cultivate the land of our ancestors. We have been cultivating our olive grove organically since 2005, producing with love, the best olive oil and olives from the Adramitini variety. We are located in Stipsi, a small village in the northern part of Lesvos. The semi-mountainous terrain and the local climatic conditions as well as the aridity of the cultivation give us this aroma and taste in our products. The strict selection of olive fruit combined with the traditional way of harvesting gives us the excellent olive oil at the best prices. All products are without chemical preservatives and only with natural ones such as salt, oil, lemon and oregano. We decided to cultivate our olive grove organically despite the difficulties, making a healthier product of undoubtedly better quality. At first, we started selling olive oil and olives to acquaintances and friends in our village. In 2016, we started looking for ways to make our products available to the public and on August 23, 2017, we got the Home Crafts license with registration number GR83000919, and started the original story of Oikotexnia A.O. …
